1. Truly make Nature part of your life.
If you are truly interested in the Traditional Craft or if you wish to become a better person, then perhaps the single most important thing you can do is to get connected with Nature. I would suggest you should walk around outside amongst the trees. Go on walks in the park, make the effort to take walks into the woods or a forest if one is handy. Within your physical ability, bike along bike trails, or hike along hiking.
Commune with nature on a regular basis, learn to better appreciate our sacred landscape and the sounds of Nature.
Go outside at night and look at the stars and the moon. Become aware of the Moon cycles and follow them by going outside often and observe the moon nightly/daily for a few minutes for one month, from one Full Moon to the next Full Moon. It is amazing to observe the daily changes of the moon, something few people appreciate.
2. Realisations
A) We are a spirituality, and not a religion. Religions have a central authority that regiment liturgy, ritual, and practice. We do not. But you may find a few that may have some organisation that may seem larger and formal. This is not usual and it is not traditional. I would not recommend them. It is far better to be solo, or if you must, perhaps in a small group.
B) The Traditional Craft is a way of living, an outlook and attitude about life. It is a personal journey of constant observation, constant learning, and a lifelong commitment to the development of our spirituality.
C) Most books today on "witchcraft", are really about Wicca. I would recommend you avoid these books. Also, there are websites and some books that claim to be on "Traditional Witchcraft" that are written by Wiccans. Check out authors first and make sure what you read is written by true Traditional Crafters.
3. Learn to Go Within
The key to magic is concentration and visualization. This is gained through Going Within- what today is commonly called, meditation. Therefore, it is essential that you develop meditation skills. And EVERYONE can learn and master Going Within. Everyone, without exception. It just takes time and effort. It's guaranteed. All Traditional Witches meditate, even if it was never called "meditation" until recently. It is an ancient skill worldwide. It's not just "Asian". It's human.
There are different meditation techniques available. I teach one technique, but it really doesn't matter which technique you select. Classes on meditation are available in many communities, should you think you really need the support of a group. For many people, learning to Go Within is a life-changing experience. This is really something to look forward to. Just don't expect it all overnight. It will take some time to develop. Just give it time.
