Advice to Someone Searching
The following was my response to a letter I received asking if I thought their Fate was to be in the Traditional Craft. This advise is for all people who are searching for their path in life, regardless of age, regardless of background. Everyone who is introspective about his/her life and their spirituality, will go through a process of "finding who they are". They will naturally in time, know what path they wish to follow, or at least explore for a while until they decide for themselves, which path seems to fit. And then they will go on from there. There may be trial and error along the way. That means there may be some errors, and some successes. But even a failure is a lesson and can help us grow. For life IS an exploration of discovery, of learning about ourselves, our world, and our place in it. The answer of 'what we do in life', must come from within you. No one can tell you what you must believe or what you must do. I cannot tell you your fate. Fate is to be discovered, often realised in hindsight. There is no signpost telling you what to think, or believe, or do. Try this: Try to forget the idea of "Fate". Instead, simply live and experience life for yourself- as the free individual you are. Try something if you have an interest in it. If you feel comfortable doing something important, then there is a possibility it may be right for you. So, give it a whirl and see how it goes. But remember, all good things require a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve. It is not easy to learn to play a piano or to become an engineer, or an artist, or really anything meaningful. But if you follow your heart and use good sense, chances are you may be on a good path to self fulfilment and happiness. Trust yourself. Listen to other's opinion with a huge grain of salt. They may mean well, but they are not you. In the end, it doesn't matter what other people think, it only matters what you think. May the Gods Bless You and Protect You. |
