The directionals, also called elementals, are lower-level spirits, Faeries, or nature spirits that personify the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water. They reside in all things in nature, such as the forces of nature as well as birds, animals, insects, rocks, and plants.

Thus, the elementals are the life force in nature and as such, witches often ask for their assistance in working magic.
