Wine Ritual

Wine Ritual is just a term. Any food and any drink can be used. This includes cookies and milk, strawberries and champagne or anything in between. Many use fruit juice instead of alcohol, and bread instead of cake.

With more than one person, do not use just the altar chalice for a drinking vessel. Passing the chalice for each person to sip is simply very unhealthy. So, fill one cup or glass for each person.

1. Prepare Libation

Set a small portion of the cake and wine aside for later use as a libation to the gods.

2. Place the dish of cups on the altar, and say:

I infuse this (name liquid) with the blessings of My Lord of the Hills and Dales of the Wooded Wild.

Pass the plate deosil, each takes one and says:

My Lord

3. Place the dish of cakes on the altar, and say:

To the glory of My Lady, the Goddess of the Moon.

Pass deosil, each takes one and says:

My Lady

Enjoy the wine and cake. In fact, on a Full Moon, festival or other festive occasion, an entire meal may be served. Of course, conversation is allowed. Anyone may have seconds if portions allow.

usually the Closing of the Compass ~
