Traditional British Witchcraft CenserThe Thurible
The censer or thurible is used for burning incense. On an altar, any form of incense may be used, including stick, cone, or pebble. If you use cone incense, the censer may become very hot, so a potholder (thoughtfully placed near the cone censer) would be convenient. Cone incense tends to be strong. Pebble incense is lit and burned with the use of a special charcoal made for burning incense. Use this type of incense only if you have all the windows open or if you are out of doors, as the fragrance can get (shall we say) very pungent, and because of the charcoal, the smoke may not be completely safe. Personally, when I use incense, which is not all the time, I only use stick incense. Ritual Tools |
